Mohegan Sun to host Bellator 251 on Nov. 5
by Brian Woodman Jr. on 11/03/20A light heavyweight bout between Dutch striking specialist Melvin Manhoef (31-14-1 with two no-contests) and UFC alumni Corey Anderson (13-5) will serve as the main event at UFC 251 this week. The Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT will host the event. on November 5.
Jessy Miele (9-4) of Waterbury will compete in a featherweight bout on the preliminary card, which will air on Bellator's Youtube channel and CBS.com. Her opponent will be Janay Harding (5-4).
Manhoef earned 29 of his career victories by knockout. Anderson is a two-time NCAA All-American wrestler who won the 19th season of The Ultimate Fighter.
The co-main event will be a heavyweight bout between Tyrell Fortune (8-1 with one no-contest) and Said Sowma (6-1)
The main card, which will air on the CBS Sports Network, will include; a middleweight bout between Austin Vanderford (9-0) and Chris Curtis (22-8); and a welterweight bout between Derek Anderson (16-3 with one no contest) and Killys Mota (12-1).
The rest of the opening card will include;
- A lightweight bout between Georgi Karakhanyan (29-11-1 with one no contest) and Bryce Logan (12-4).
- A light heavyweight bout between Alex Polizzi (7-0) and Julius Anglickas (8-4).
- A lightweight bout Nainoa Dung (3-2) and Piankhi Zimmerman (5-4-1)
- A bantamweight bout between Jaylon Bates and Joe Supino, who will make their professional debuts that evening.
- A flyweight bout between Sumiko Inaba (0-0) and Jessica Ruiz (0-1).
